Koh Lipe Pattaya Beach is the most popular on the island. It has everything that could be needed – bars, restaurants accommodation, hotels, clear blue seas, soft white sand. And more!
The stretch of coast is south-facing so receives the most sun throughout the day. This makes it hot, bright and perfect for swimming and sunbathing.
Koh Lipe Pattaya Beach also has the entrance to the island’s Walking Street, a 1km long stretch of restaurants, bars, shops, tour guides and guest houses.
Hotels on Koh Lipe Pattaya Beach
Koh Lipe Pattaya Beach has plenty of sea-front resorts, including Bundhaya Villas, Bundhaya Resort, Akira Lipe Resort, Z-Touch, Sita and more accommodation. Read my review of Bundhaya Villas for one of the best hotels on Koh Lipe Pattaya Beach.
Apart from the fact that Pattaya Beach is the sunniest, another reason for it’s popularity is it’s size. The area of sand is wide, so people can walk and play along the beach at all times of the day and night.
This is in contrast to Sunrise Beach, which in parts is totally covered in water at certain times when the tide comes in.
Here’s a video I shot walking along Pattaya Beach mid-morning during June, the low season…
The sea on Koh Lipe Pattaya Beach is calm and steady. It is sheltered from the winds sweeping in from the north. There is also a large sectioned-off area for leisure swimming which boats cannot enter. Guests can, of course, swim anywhere on the beach.
Is Pattaya Beach beach?
The surprising thing about Koh Lipe Pattaya Beach when I visited was that there very few boats there. Occasionally a couple of long tail boats would moor, and young Thai men would unload supplies for different shops and bars on the island.
The actually trawler stops about 1 nautical mile off shore then they go back and forth for a few hours transporting everything from bottles of beer to new washing machines and TVs.
Throughout the day and a couple of speedboats pulled up once or twice, but generally the ocean was very quiet.
Compare this with Sunrise Beach, which had a LOT of boats stopped there, and it’s easily my favourite beach. The peaceful ness could have been because it was low-season (June) but I’m also told that efforts are made in high-season to keep the waters here as traffic-free as possible.
One of the highlights of Koh Lipe Pattaya Beach was walking along a night time under the moonlight after a relaxing meal. It is very Romantic!
Plus, on nights when there’s cloud covering the moon, it’s possible to see glowing plankton bioluminescence plankton in the froth from waves. These glowing organisms are an amazing sight, and the best way to see them is on a plankton snorkeling trip.
